REMEMBRANCE WALK

The Catholic Church has organized a symbolic walk of faith that traces the brutal trail of the Uganda Martyrs’ last days to their final martyrdom.

 

This WALK will be held on 27th May, 2017 starting at 8.00 a.m and shall be flagged off by the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Uganda Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, the Minister of Tourism Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, the Archbishop of Kampala - His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito-Lwanga, as well as the Bishop of the animating Diocese of Hoima, His Lordship Vincent Kirabo Amooti.

The WALK will begin from the Munyonyo Martyrs’ Shrine and end at St. Matia Mulumba Parish in Old Kampala with the Holy Mass. As we walk in their footsteps, we shall use this opportunity to deepen our faith and spiritually connect with the Uganda Martyrs.

Today, all roads lead to St. Paul’s National Major Seminary, Kinyamasika, for the celebration of the seminary’s 25th anniversary. According to Fr Dr Lazarus Luyinda, the rector of the seminary, the celebrations will be graced by all the Catholic bishops of Uganda. Friends and benefactors of the seminary from Uganda and abroad will also grace the event.

CLARIFICATION ON APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION: CAUSE FOR THE VALIDITY OF EPISCOPAL CONSECRATIONS IN THE CATHOLIC AND ORTHODOX CHURCHES The upcoming consecration of the self-excommunicated Priest Kibuuka Jacinto to the position of a Bishop has raised many questions in the public. The basic question that is emerging pertains: the authenticity and validity of this consecration as seen from the point of view of Antiochian Orthodox Church and the 23 independent Churches within the Catholic Church led by Pope Francis.

Saint Mary's Cathedral Rubaga, commonly referred to as Rubaga Cathedral, is the parent cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kampala, the oldest Roman Catholic diocese in Uganda. In 1914 the missionaries began constructing a modern cathedral at Lubaga (Rubaga). Construction was completed in 1925 and St. Mary's Cathedral Rubaga was consecrated on 31 December 1925.
