50 YEARS OF QUALITY SERVICE AT RUBAGA GIRLS S.S.S.

It is a delighting moment for me to be penning happy remarks to mark such a memorable occasion and even more delighting to be the one heading this institution at a time when it is celebrating 50 years of quality service. 50 years by any standard is a long time, survival in itself is no simple feat. It is therefore right and befitting for me to say congratulations!

We are not only celebrating numbers but quality service since all school activities have a specific focus, and every activity is seen as a learning opportunity. With this kind of set up, tasks have been set to match and challenge the need of the youth. No wonder our products are unique, distinct and discernible from the crowd. Their conduct is a proof of the catholic upbringing of selfless concern for others, self-reliance and capable leaders.

Education goes beyond grades; so we strive at training an integral person body and soul. Our school in all these years has had an operative philosophy attentive to the needs of today's youth illuminated by Gospel.

Remember, Rejoice, Renew

From the onset I wish to pay tribute to Kampala Archdiocese through the missionaries of Africa (White sisters) for the idea of starting this school and transforming it into a reality.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all the Board members for their constant advise and determination.

To the school past headteachers, Sr. Marie Luce Tessier a Canadian who was heading both the primary and the secondary section (1967-1974)-(RIP). Sr.Mary Anselm (DM)-(RIP), (1975-1985). Sr. Gerald Stephen Nanyonjo (DM) (1986-1997). Sr. Justine Vianney Tumushabe (1998-2007) It was your tirelessness selflessness and sacrifice that gave way to the mighty Rubaga Girls with all her crown of success.

To the very first teachers, you are great innovators, most imaginative, visionary and students centered. One of them is in our midst Dr. Joachim Zziwa (1968). Parents through the P.T.A thank you for providing the school with your support.

To the students, past and present you have made Rubaga to be what it is today. Without you there would be no school. I recognize the first Dormitory mother and head girl Ms. Nanfuka Rosemary and all the Pioneer students of 1967. Your enrollment made the school complete. The students of 1967 to the present, congratulations!!

Let us also appreciate the structural development made up to today.

Due to the school continued growth over the years in terms of student population at one point, the existing facilities were inadequate to cater for the rising demand of vacancies in the school. The Board in conjunction with the P.T.A, in its wisdom planned to put up storied buildings. All these constructions have been facilitated by the parents. Thank you very much parents.

We will always be grateful to the Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga for the extra two acres of prime land he donated to the school. On this land is where the Golden Jubilee multipurpose Hall and swimming pool shall be constructed soon.

Thank you very much the Archbishop for your generosity.

May you all celebrate the 50 years with joy and peace!

Message of His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga on the Priestly Silver Jubilee of Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Sserunjogi it is with profound joy that I convey my heartfelt congratulations to our Jubilarian Rev.Fr. Dr. Joseph Sserunjogi. After twenty five years of fruitful priestly service in the Lord's vineyard, it is inevitably right to offer a thanksgiving sacrifice to the Lord for His Mercy and Goodness, because he has enabled you celebrate the mysteries of Christ faithfully and religiously as the Church has handed them down to us for the glory of God and the sanctification of Christ's people. This is the day that the Lord had made; let us rejoice and be glad in it (Ps 118:24).

Saint Mary's Cathedral Rubaga, commonly referred to as Rubaga Cathedral, is the parent cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kampala, the oldest Roman Catholic diocese in Uganda. In 1914 the missionaries began constructing a modern cathedral at Lubaga (Rubaga). Construction was completed in 1925 and St. Mary's Cathedral Rubaga was consecrated on 31 December 1925.
