The period of waiting is finally over! After seven years of construction, our New Kamuli Sub-Parish will be opened and consecrated today. What a great gift to celebrate 50 years of the existence of Kampala Archdiocese!! On behalf of Kamuli Sub Parish, I welcome all of you, our guests to this auspicious occasion.

In a special way, I thank you our chief Guest for accepting our invitation to grace this day, and also to Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga for presiding over this function as the main celebrant. Thank you. One would wonder how St. Gonzaga Gonza Kamuli a mere sub parish has been able to build this magnificent church. The answer is teamwork, determination, passion, believing in ourselves, good resource mobilization, coupled with transparency, but above all the invisible hand of God. It was during the previous administration that we resolved to build a bigger church. Mr. Ronald Kasozi our Head of laity then, laid a number of strategies to mobilize        funds. We started with a donors’ fundraising where everyone, was given a chance to pledge his/her contribution. At every end of month, a different Small Christian Community would be in charge of fundraising. We set a quota of shs. 2,500,000 to be paid by each Small Christian Community every year. We also

resolved to reach out to potential donors in the           entire Bweyogerere Parish and beyond. On St. Gonzaga day, (Patron Saints day), we would carry out mega fundraising drives. By the time Mr. Kasozi handed over leadership to me, our Sub Parishioners had got used to the system. To ensure continuity, I recommended to the Sub Parish executive members and council that Mr. Kasozi be appointed chairman of our finance committee. We also resolved to retain Mr. Henry Mwase as our chairman of the building committee. From the bottom of my heart, I wish to thank my Sub Parish Community members for being a wonderful community. You have always lived up to your task without getting tired. You put in practice what St. Paul (2 Cor 9:7) said “God loves a cheerful giver.” You have built the Lords’ temple willingly and happily. No doubt today each one of us is wearing a big smile. I am also heavily indebted to our Parish priest, his Curates, visiting priests and well wishers, for their priceless contribution towards the construction of this Church. Last but not least, I am grateful to all our former Heads of Laity of Kamuli Sub Parish for building a strong foundation in faith and the necessary infrastructure, my administration inherited about three years ago.
