Message of His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga on the Priestly Silver Jubilee of

Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Sserunjogi

it is with profound joy that I convey my heartfelt congratulations to our Jubilarian Rev.Fr. Dr. Joseph Sserunjogi. After twenty five years of fruitful priestly service in the Lord's vineyard, it is inevitably right to offer a thanksgiving sacrifice to the Lord for His Mercy and Goodness, because he has enabled you celebrate the mysteries of Christ faithfully and religiously as the Church has handed them down to us for the glory of God and the sanctification of Christ's people. This is the day that the Lord had made; let us rejoice and be glad in it (Ps 118:24).

Twenty five years may seem like a very a long time for some, but actually it can be "a short one'' if one has a lot on his hands. For sure, you have spent many years of your priesthood on the duty of forming future priests in St. Mbaaga's Major Seminary Ggaba. You have used your own vocation and the trust the church has put in you to form her future shepherds. This duty you have done with all your heart to see to it that, Mother Church has holistic ministers for the Lord's Vineyard. In your duty you have been a real witness to our Lord (Acts 1:8). You have assisted in the Ecclesiastical Court of your Diocese, always driving from Kampala almost every week so as to save the souls of those who have got challenges in their marriages as well as helping in the neighboring parishes of Ggaba and Kansanga. Your tremendous assistance in the growth and development of Kkonge-Lukuli Sub-Parish in Kansanga Parish is worth mentioning.

I thank the Lord God who placed you amongst the chosen few, because of his love for you. I continue to praise and glorify his name for the good life he has given you, through your beloved deceased parents Mr. Joseph Kiwanuka and Mrs. Kevin Nalwanga Kiwanuka, for all those who have helped you, and also those who continuously challenge you to be better. It gives joy when one takes time to look back where his or her vocation came from and how much fruitful this vocation has been. There is no doubt many people have benefited from your ministry. Thank you for a job well done.

My dear brother, you are a priest forever, now after twenty five years of vast experience, the Lord expects even much more from you; to continue being with Him, being His Ambassador and being for others in a mission that penetrate your whole being and doing. Therefore remain strong and steady fast in Him, giving to the world the witness of a pure conscience, as you imitate our Master who came to serve and not to be served (Mk 10:45).Be ever faithful and focused as you remember that we priests are called upon not only to be agents, but doors and oasis of Mercy.

May the words of Pope Francis, spoken to the priests, Religious and Seminarians in Uganda on the 28th November 2015 in Lubaga Cathedral, always sounds a bell in your mind in the next years of your priesthood, "Jesus wants to use you to touch the hearts of yet other people; he wants to use your mouth to proclaim his saving word, your arms to embrace the poor whom he loves, your hands to build up communities of authentic missionary disciples". I wish you more years in the Lord's vineyard. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of priests and St. Joseph your Patron Saint continue to guide and protect you.
