Archbishop Ssemogerere Encourages St. Mary’s College Students to Embrace Discipline and Lead as Men of the Future

St. Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK), August 14, 2023 – The Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese Paul Ssemogerere, graced the College Feast Day celebrations at St. Mary’s College Kisubi, where he urged the students to cultivate discipline, respect, and a strong education foundation as they strive to become useful men of both the present and the future. The event, was organized under the theme “With Mary, do not be afraid, raise, pickup your mat and walk,” emphasizing the importance of facing challenges with courage and determination.

Addressing the students, Archbishop Ssemogerere highlighted the significance of faith in their journey towards becoming successful and responsible individuals. He encouraged them to put God first and to treat all individuals with equality, regardless of color, stressing that we are all equal in the eyes of God.

The Archbishop commended the dedication of the school to holistic education and recognized the efforts of the staff, and student leaders for their commitment to shaping the students’ lives. He also took the opportunity to confirm several brothers and sisters, bestowing upon them the sacrament of confirmation.

The celebration also acknowledged the rich history of St. Mary’s College Kisubi and the generations of students who have walked its halls. The Head Teacher, Brother Simeon Simon Mpanga, was hailed as an inspiration to the students, and Deputy Head Teachers were recognized for their dedication to students’ development.

Members of the School Board of governors, Parent – Teacher association and the teaching staff, were commended for their spiritual guidance, fostering an environment of moral and personal growth. The event was graced by alumni, parents of the confirmed students, and various dignitaries who expressed their support for the college’s mission.
