Proverbs 30:5-9, Psalm 118:29.72.89.101.104.163, Luke 9:1-6
“Your word is a lamp for my steps, O Lord” (Psalm 119:105 Good News Bible). The word of God directs us in our ways, gives us strength. It is the message that we are to bring to the world.
Jesus Christ called the 12 and gave them power, He told them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal others. The apostles were called and sent.
In our times too, God calls us in the various ways and sends us to others. We are messengers and we are to bring to others the message of God.
This message of God is the Word of God which is described well in the first reading thus “The word of God is unalloyed.” (Proverbs 30:5a). In another passage of Sacred Scripture we, read that, “The word of God cuts more finely than the double-edged sword.” (Hebrews 4:12).
The speaking of St. Dominic is described as being either “speaking with God or speaking about God.”
He was speaking with God in prayer and he was speaking about God in preaching. Do I have the time to speak with God? When I speak (personal face to face talk / conversation, phone call, Skype) am I speaking about God?

Prayer: Almighty Father, by the working of the Holy Spirit, You sent Your Son among us who proclaimed Your Kingdom to us. Jesus Christ called and sent the apostles in the whole world so as to gather all Your people into one people. We humbly pray that we may always listen to the teaching of the apostles through the bishops so that we may come to the heavenly Kingdom where you live and reign with God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, always One God forever and ever Amen.
